Farm Funding, Management and Economics Masterclass Syllabus
Business development and support. Resources and support available for new agricultural businesses, including financing options, government programs, subsidies, and agricultural extension services.
Identifying and accessing available funding options and government schemes for agricultural projects.
Financial planning and budgeting for agricultural enterprises. Regarding financial planning, discussions will focus on goal setting, cash flow management, capital investment planning, debt management, risk management, record keeping, financial analysis, and diversification. Regarding farm budgeting, the focus will be on income projection, expense estimation, contingency planning, budget allocation, monitoring and adjustment, seasonal considerations, cost control, and profit planning.
Farm design and farming infrastructure development. Regarding farm design, the points of discussion are site selection, land layout, zoning and permits, irrigations systems, drainage systems, access roads and pathways. Regarding farming infrastructure development the discussions will focus on buildings and structures, fencing, storage facilities, power supply, water supply and nmanagement, waste management, farm labour housing and amenities, security systems, environmental considerations, and emergency preparedness.
Farm machinery and equipment selection and maintenance. Regarding selecting farm machinery and equipment, we will discuss purpose and suitability, capacity and size, technology and features, cost and budget, reliability and durability, ease of use and maintenance, safety features, and environmental impact. Regarding maintenance, discussion points are regular inspections, preventive maintenance, cleaning and storage, repairs and replacements, training and operation, and record keeping.

Developing a business plan for your agricultural enterprise. Discussions will include the Executive Summary which contains business overview, products and services, market opportunity, and financial highlights. Discussions will also include a business description which focuses on farm description, ownership structure, and vision and mission statements. Further discussions will be on market analysis which focusses on industry overview, target market, market needs, and competitive analysis. The marketing and sales strategy will also be discussed and this encompasses, marketing plan, sales strategy, and customer relationship management. Operations plan will look closely at production plan, supply chain management, quality control, as well as technology and equipment. Discussion on management and organization will include organizational structure, management team, staffing plan, and advisers and consultants. The financial plan will highlight startup costs, financial projections, funding requirements, break-even analysis, and financial assumptions. Discussions will also include risk analysis and this covers SWOT analysis and risk mitigation. Certain other items will still be discussed.
Costs analysis. Understanding the costs involved in crop and livestock production and methods to optimize them. Regarding crop production costs, discussions will focus on costs of seed and planting materials, fertilizers and soil amendments, pesticides and herbicides, water, labour, machinery and equipment, energy, crop storage, handling, and processing. On livestock production costs, discussions will focus on costs of animal feed, livestock housing and infrastructure, healthcare, breeding and genetics, labour, as well as machinery and equipment used. The methods for optimizing these costs which will be discussed include crop rotation and diversification, integrated pest management, precision agriculture, water management, energy efficiency, and conducting regular economic analysis.
Market access, value addition, and value chain analysis. Strategies for accessing markets and adding value to crops through processing and branding.
Market analysis and identification of market opportunities
Development of a marketing strategy for agricultural products. Discussions will begin from market research and this covers market analysis, competitive analysis, and customer insights. Next is product strategy which covers product differentiation, quality assurance, and product range. Afterwards, discussions move to pricing strategy which will look at cost analysis, pricing models, and market positioning. Distribution strategy will also be studied, and this entails sales channels, logistics supply chain, and partnerships. Promotion strategy will be discussed and it will cover branding, advertising, social media and digital marketing, public relations, and sales promotions. Venue of the Masterclasses
a) The physical venue where the masterclasses are holding is AIH Corporate Centre, No. 18 Oba Akenzua Avenue, Off Osuntokun Avenue, Old Bodija, Ibadan, Oyo State, Nigeria.
b) For those who cannot attend physically, it is possible to attend online. The link for online attendance will be shared to you as soon as you complete your registration. Be sure to indicate on the space provided for such on the registration form that you prefer online attendance in your particular case.
Registration Fees
a) To attend the 5 masterclasses: N220,000 or (600 USD forex registration)
b) To attend any 4 masterclasses: N180,000 or (500 USD forex registration)
c) To attend any 3 masterclasses: N150,000 or (400 USD forex registration)
d) To attend any 2 masterclasses: N100,000 or (250 USD forex registration)
e) To attend any 1 masterclass: N60,000 or (150 USD forex registration)
Full payment is required to secure a seat on the desired masterclass. Payment is online. All payments are non-refundable. However, after payment, date change is possible if the intending participant so desires.
Group Registration Discounts offered:
a) Registering 5 to 9 people together attracts 5 per cent discount on total registration fees.
b) Registering 10 or more people together attracts 10 per cent discount on total registration fees.
Each masterclass will run for the whole day from 9.00 am to 6.00pm. An hour lunch break will be included and provided. Tea break, refreshments, and farm-fresh fruits will also be provided. Abundant highest-quality bottled water will be provided for participants throughout the day. All these are included in the fees paid by each registered participant.
For participants coming from outside Ibadan, comfortable hotel accommodation can be arranged on their behalf in Bodija area in close proximity to the seminar location. This will however be at a discounted extra cost arranged with the hotel, courtesy of the seminar organizers.
